On Saturday 27 August 2011 Maria Schutz, the small place of Catholic pilgrimage, turned into the mecca for Austrian LAVERDA riders. The roaring of the engines even drowned the sound of the churchbells. We were once again friendly welcomed at the local inn "Zum Auerhahn" run by the Rumpler family and were spoilt until the wee hours with delicious meals and cool drinks.
We were particularly pleased to be visited by Robert Schlachter from Vorarlberg, who nowadays owns the Sulzbacher LAVERDA 1200SC of Hans Eisschiel, and Erwin Hirschmugl from Styria who has constantly been racing a 1200SC since the seventies. Blaz and Simon from Slovenia on their LAVERDA 500s and Boba from Serbia made our small meeting international. Boba brought his gorgeous LAVERDA carbon parts which earned a lot of praise. Robert "Härtling" was able to leave his LAVERDA chopper in the garage and instead presented his new 1180SC in metallic orange. The second bike in this colour scheme was the awesome 1200SC of Roman from Burgenland. Bernhard was treated to a test-ride of Hirschi's green-yellow street-fighter and is now seriously considering some tuning measures for his 1000 3CL. Hannes had arrived on his pretty LAVERDA 500 which he has turned back from a racer into a road bike. Georg brought an almost original 1000 3CL which nowadays is a real rarity. The most admired and discussed LAVERDA however was Norbert's original 750S.
The relatively strong Carinthian/Eastern Tyrolean delegation and our friends from Slovenia proved to be able to hold their drink until the small hours.
On Sunday morning there was a shared breakfast for the survivors.
Once again we missed some of our LAVERDA friends - it was a great event nonetheless - and we are looking forward to our next meeting!
