A brimming paddock, hot summer weather, grippy tarmac and a box full of orange racing motorbikes - what more could any heart desire: Willi Werndl, Reinhold Weinert, Horst Scheuer, Max Kolar, Günter, Dagmar and Lucas Lechermann and Andreas Ruppi had entered their LAVERDAs this year.
Saturday was practice and qualifying and on Sunday there were two races each per class.
Andreas had never before been on a track and it was very obvious that he had a lot of fun with his LAVERDA 750 SF2. Max Kolar hadn't quite fine-tuned his HAUER LAVERDA 1200 and gave the races a miss. Horst Scheuer did really well with both his LAVERDA 1200s and finished twice in sixth place. Willi and Reinhold didn't limit themselves to their 1000 SFC triples but also raced their 750 Zane bikes.
We were particularly happy to meet the Styrian Franz Pirker, who in the 70s and 80s rode a Sulzbacher LAVERDA at hill-climbs and on the racetrack.
Unfortunately on Sunday Reinhold crashed in the silver-heat and was taken to hospital with a broken collarbone. We wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.
